SUSTAINABLE BUILDING DESIGN CONSULTANCY

The rapid decline in fossil fuels and the consequent increase in energy prices pave the way for and even mandate the use of renewable energy and low-energy consuming high-performance buildings.

As TURKECO, we consult for the issues of high-performance building design such as::

  • High-efficiency heating -cooling and ventilation (HVAC) equipment selection
  • Maximum use of renewable energy systems,
  • Low-intensity lighting equipment selection,
  • Choice of building layout and structural elements suitable for external climate conditions

Our design consultancy is done using computer aided energy simulation and also guiding for optimization studies. The energy simulation programs we select according to the projects vary. Our professionals, trained in different programs from Energy Plus to Design Builder, guide designers to make the most efficient buildings.

SUSTAINABLE INTERIOR DESIGN CONSULTANCY

There are many factors that influence sustainable interior design. The importance given to human health is more prominent in a project designed with these factors in mind. Considering that we spend most of our daily time in workplaces, schools and homes, the importance to be given to the quality of the interior is better understood. Particularly in places such as workplaces where there is a high employee population, positive contribution to indoor quality, work performance and work efficiency is observed.

Indoor Air Quality

In volumes where there is a high human density, such as offices, high-rise buildings and conference halls where high air demand is needed, it is necessary to transfer the fresh air from the external environment instead of removing the dirty air from the interior environment. Depending on the venting requirements, international standards must be taken into account and energy savings should also be ensured. Health problems that are heard by public recently, such as Tight Building Syndrome (TBS) and Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) are linked directly to indoor air quality of buildings. Symptoms such as tiredness, headache and concentration difficulties can be observed on people working under low air quality conditions after a certain period of time.

Low Emission Material Selection

Indoor air quality directly affects human health, comfort and work efficiency in buildings. Especially, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) found in indoor air are among the most effective indoor pollutants which negatively affect human health and indoor air quality. The most important sources of volatile organic compounds are materials used in construction and decoration. Building materials such as paints, varnishes, adhesives and flooring are among the most important sources of VOCs. Due to their rapid evaporation properties, construction products that contains VOCs affect mostly construction workers and building occupants. For this reason, it is very important to use low-VOC emission and ecological materials in paints, coatings and adhesives during building construction.

Daylight and Landscape

Daylight, in the buildings that were designed correctly, has a positive impact on human health and psychology, as well as reducing the energy need of the building. As the need for electrical lighting during the day will decrease, the energy need will also decrease. Natural lighting (daylight) also plays a role in balancing the heating and cooling load of the building.

IMPROVEMENT IN EXISTING BUILDINGS

In order to regulate the protection of the environment, limitation of greenhouse gas emissions in terms of primary energy and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of buildings and making the existing buildings energy-efficient has an important role in the world and in our country. The work in this direction has accelerated along with the implementation of the Building Energy Performance Regulation and the (Energy Performance Certificate) (Enerji Kimlik Belgesi) EKB.

As a member of the Chamber of Civil Engineers, we enable you to see the effects of selected equipment and applications in the building by providing you with an Energy Performance Certificate (EKB) and about transforming the existing building into an energy efficient state by measuring the performance of your building by using energy modeling. Through standards and modeling results independent of equipment brands, we give the employer an opportunity to choose from different product ranges.

ENERGY AND DAYLIGHT SIMULATION

Due to the depletion of resources in the world and the increasing damage to the environment, ‘’Efficient use of energy and water’’ has become increasingly important. Building energy simulations have been used in building design and construction processes in order to use energy and water more effectively and efficiently.

As TURKECO, from the design stage to the usage of the building, we are at your side based on the integrated project team work.

By completing the energy simulation and offer efficient solutions and results for the building and green building certification systems (LEED, BREEAM).

  • With the building energy simulation, we find the amount of energy consumed per hour, daily, monthly and yearly in our building. In this way, the energy to be consumed is known during the project design phase
  • Building energy loads for heating, cooling, ventilation and accordingly equipment at the most suitable capacity can be selected. The teams in the project are offered alternatives in terms of materials and equipment.
  • We find the highest percentage of energy improvement for green building certification systems compared to the reference building. We can approach the project from the design stage to energy-oriented.
  • The use of renewable energy sources is encouraged and the percentage of consumption to be covered is determined.

DAY LIGHT SIMULATION

By daylight simulations in energy efficient building design; The project teams are guided in the design phase and in the improvement of existing buildings in many areas such as the selection of the building’s location, orientation, the shadow effect of other buildings, utilization of natural lighting.

ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE

According to the Regulation on Energy Performance in Buildings (BEP) published in accordance with the Law on Energy Efficiency No. 5627, it is mandatory to issue an Energy Performance Certificate (EKB) for all new buildings with a total construction area above 1,000 m2 after of January 1, 2011 and also mandatory to get the same certification for the existing buildings by 1 January 2020.

An Energy Performance Certificate (EKB) is required in the works and transactions related to the purchase, sale and leasing of buildings or independent sections. The buildings which are not in compliance with BEP (Energy Performance in Buildings) will not be granted building permit by the relevant administration. Our company, which is a member of Chamber of Civil Engineers and having active SİM (Independent Civil Engineers) Certificate, gives Energy Performance Certification. Our field of expertise is ‘’STRUCTURE’’.
